evaluation,

In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conversations of real media products?

I believe my media final does use forms and conversations of real media products as the whole image and layout of my magazine is inspires by famous music magazines such as 'Billboard', 'Fader' and 'Vibe'. The style followed out by these three magazines was really eye catching with their presentation of the masthead, photograph, cover lines etc. I can see the way billboards masthead hugely inspired mine to be vertical instead of the generic horizontal theme. I would say my cover and contents page was hugely developed by these named magazines, the layout especially, as I was going to keep the cover lines very bland and follow the basic down the sides when instead I thought why not challenge it by transforming my font so that it is placed above the model but instead of just coming down it is placed at an angle which all the other cover lines will proceed to follow. I think my mission was to make sure it would leave an impression on the consumer.

How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts?
I assume the combination of my main product and the ancillary texts involved are quite effective as I had a way of trying to make sure both of the participants had a link. The texts which I made sure to include on the cover and the contents page were both related to the genre of R&B music, this being my goal from the beginning, I managed to make up some headers and cover lines which I believe follow the patterns of current music magazines in today’s day and age. I believe this was a success as already making a magazine for a genre of music I myself enjoy; I was already up to date with the artist involved and their current situations, this then making it not at all difficult to put them into eye catching reading material.

What have you learned from your audience feedback?
The overall effect it had on people was interesting as they all seemed to really support the choice in having the font look different from the mainstream magazine layout. Also with the masthead 'Diversion' being placed vertically and coming down the side was an interesting change added to this final piece. The feedback I got from others on the photographs I took of my model were supportive as most of them agreed that they fit my genre really well and looked like some of the covers on the magazines I was inspired by. Overall I would say that the feedback I received on my cover was all positive as all liked my non controversial ideas and agreed it was put together well. Though the feedback on my contents page was the opposite as I received comments saying it didn't stand out or how the theme didn't match really well with the cover. I would say that I have to agree with them on the latter as I myself don't see much resemblance on this at all, I will blame my use of time management  involved though and know if I had spent more time on the contents page then I would have been able to feel proud of the comparisons.
How did you use media technologies in the constructions and research, planning and evaluation stages?
I used quite a bit of media technologies in the stages of making this final as there was the use of Photoshop which was the main technology in this overall product. Whereas, in the research, planning and evaluation stages I can say I made sure to use some software websites to help me plan out my overall design. In my deconstructions I make sure to really go into detail on the magazine covers chosen as I wanted to see if what I was critiquing in my deconstructions was something I was going to make sure to include in my actual final. I would say I succeeded in some areas and failed in others. I would have liked to use more media technologies when going through the stages to get to my final.
